The RISE Campaign support of Tiger Athletics funds program enhancements such as nutrition, facilities and recruiting and fuels TU’s ability to compete at a national level. Thanks to Tiger Nation, our more than 500 student athletes thrive both on the field and academically—TU’s graduation success rate is the highest among all Division I University System of Maryland Schools.

In the past six years, scholarships have grown by an impressive 25 percent, offering more Tiger athletes the opportunity to compete at the DI level. Support will help grow scholarships, so opportunities for our student-athletes continue to grow as well. Consider supporting one of these scholarships: Evan A. Schulz Summer School Scholarship, Steven J. Murfin ’77 Baseball Scholarship, Wardell Turner Football Scholarship Endowment, Major Robert Marchanti Endowed Scholarship, CSM (Ret) Thomas B. Beyard ’77 Endowed Athletics Scholarship, Carl P. Beernink Legacy Endowed Scholarship, any of our 28 Athletic Scholarships and Endowments or establish a new scholarship of your choice.

The Tiger Athletic Fund relies on our donors to offer enhanced opportunities and scholarships for over 500 student-athletes each year. Gifts of all sizes make an impact by offsetting operational costs, allowing coaches and staff to address a wider range of needs for competitive excellence and student-athlete health and well-being, including nutrition, travel, recruiting and equipment.

Facilities Improvements and Expansion

Improving the spaces where our student-athletes and coaches work and train every day is important to the athletic experience at TU. Gifts to support the expansion of and improvements to existing facilities ensure that our student-athletes, coaches and staff have the support they need. Plans to upgrade and expand facilities include:

Field House – Renovation (Short-term)
Athletic Academic Achievement Center and 3rd Floor Renovation- Thanks to the generosity of RISE Campaign Co-Chair, Fran Soistman, in this renovated space our athletes will find quiet areas to focus on studying, project work and exam preparation. Ideally positioned for easy athlete access, the Center will be available for all TU student-athletes. Offices for academic achievement personnel, computer labs and tutoring space will also be located here.
Locker Room Renovations- Renovation plans include locker room improvements for football and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
Sports Medicine Upgrades
Field House—Expansion
The anticipated expansion of the existing Fieldhouse would include renovated offices for coaches, new team meeting space and conference rooms.

Adding or enhancing the lighting in our venues is vital for our student-athlete experience, allowing for extended and additional practice time and greater flexibility for scheduling and competition.

New state-of-the-art scoreboard for Johnny Unitas Stadium

After 16 years of use, the current scoreboard is in need of replacement. A critical part of the game day experience for Tiger student-athletes, alums, fans and students, Towson Athletics is seeking support to fund a new scoreboard with updated technology and enhanced functionality.

Tiger Pride grows as our student-athletes take to the recently renovated fields to practice and compete. As we look ahead, support is needed to fund these already-upgraded athletic facilities.

Towson Center Renovation: Ongoing Upgrades and Improvements

After renovations to Towson Center in 2012, now more than eight years later, our plan calls for continued renovations to locker rooms for 14 of 19 sports and upgrades, with general maintenance, to the weight room and strength and conditioning spaces.
